Cape GAS

Compliance:

    • Appliance

The Client must ensure that the appliance they purchase has been approved by the LPGSA.

“In terms of the Department of Labour Mandate (Ref HS 3/1/10/07/10, dated 06 December 2010), the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association of South Africa (LPGSA) is mandated to undertake the acceptance and verification of all LPG appliances (as per SANS 1539) including low pressure regulators (SANS 1237) and LPG hoses (SANS 1156-2).”

    • Installation

All LPG installations may only be completed by a Registered LPG installer that has a valid and up-to-date license.

“The SAQCC Gas has been officially appointed and mandated by the Department of Employment and Labour to register gas practitioners, on their behalf, within the following gas industries; Natural Gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Gas, Compressed Industrial and Medical Gases. For a list of registered installers, please visit the SAQCCGas website: https://saqccgas.co.za/

    • Certificate of Conformity (COC)

The Certificate of Conformity (COC) must be issued on completion of an LPG installation and reissued if there has been any change made to the installation or ownership.

“According to the regulation, any homeowner who has a liquid gas installation installed in their home must have a Gas Certificate of Conformity issued by an authorized person who is registered with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa (LPGSA). The onus is on the homeowners to ensure that they have this certificate in their possession – not the installer. In the absence of a valid gas certificate, the insurance company would be well within their rights to repudiate a claim if a defective gas appliance caused a homeowner property damage.”
